Happy Birthday!

Mari was born a week ago today, July 19 at 9:52 a.m. She weighed 7 pounds and 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. We came home from the hospital last Wednesday and have been slowly adjusting to things. She is a lovely baby, I can't get enough of her! God is so good and we are so blessed.

Friends and Family

I am so grateful to my friends and family who have come by my side and literally rescued me from a head long spiral! I was ill a little over a week ago with a high fever and an unknown bacterial infection. I was hospitalized twice. I was poked, and prodded and tested for everything! My mother-in-law came in the middle of the night to stay with the kids, my sister got me to the hospital (the 2nd time!) and meals were brought. Ironing, sweeping, laundry, visits, flowers, cards, help with the campaign . . . phone calls and daily checking in on my prognosis are just a few of the things that people helped with. Every person who came to our aid was incredibly thoughtful and proactive. My kids were taken to the movies and swimming and didn't miss me too much. My husband kept up the housework and yardwork in the midst of a political campaign. I don't think I even asked for help - it was just there. So, thank you for help big and small (none of it has been too small!!) I love you all, and am convinced that I am surrounded by angels.

Today in the Garden

I believe we found a Western Blue Bird's egg. How it arrived, I can't be sure. I was just working in the flower garden yesterday. The egg was sitting right next to my trowel, which was accidently left out. It had a small dented crack in the shell.

Anniversary

Today is our 14th wedding anniversary. We took the kids to Holy Ghost Church on Sunday, where we were married. Tonight we will to some friends' house for a special party.

Swimming Lessons!

Little did I know that I would be introducing baby ducks to the water, and not my own two cute kids! We purchased 2 ducklings last week and upon researching them, we learned that they need swimming lessons! They actually know how to swim, but need exposure and practice. So, this morning we had duckies in the bathtub.

20 Week Ultra-Sound

Yesterday we went in for our 20 week ultra-sound. The baby is looking healthy and is it too early to presume that it is cute?

I think I'm Back!

I've had a little blog break and I'm anxious to be back. Christmas season was a whirlwind of parties and festivities. Truly, so much fun. I however, wasn't feeling so peppy slogging my way through the "all day long" sickness (morning?! yeah right)of pregnancy. So we're safely in the second trimester, praise be to God!

Running to Keep Up

Blogging, unfortunately has fallen to the bottom of the to-do list in recent months. We have been busy working on the basement, homeschooling, and I'm teaching at my son's school. The lesson planning for high school literature and composition take a bit of time, and I try to work on my own things after the kids are asleep.
My life is full and crazy and I've never been happier. The holiday season is in full swing around here and I'm enjoying the ferver of it all.

Day 4

NEWSFLASH!

I made it through and finished!! I've never been so glad to see December roll around! (posted Jan 20)

Well, we're on day 4 of the Nanowrimo contest. I have started the habit of drinking coffee with dinner! There is a certain, strange joy I'm experiencing because I feel like I'm living a double-life. Homemaker and teacher by day - adventurer and author by night! My goal has been 2,000 words a day and so far I'm right on track.

November

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I've had an aggravating piece of sand in my craw to write! (Maybe there'll be a pearl in there!) It has been 3 years since I've wanted to do this - and I'm MAKING myself do it this year. I know it will be frustrating, difficult and annoying. TOO BAD! I've signed myself up for this program, a sort of writer's boot camp, if you will.

So, dear friends. . . please forgive me if I seem distracted. I most likely will be!

I'm also excited to share that I will be teaching for Aurora Public Schools starting this Friday. I'll have 6 classes, working with homeschooled high schoolers through the Broomfield Options program. Yeah!!!

Invasion!!

It's a snow day here! The spiders are attacking!
